Sweater Design Workshop
Sweater Workshop Sunday, July 27th 10am-2pm $90 includes lunch
Regardless of your level of knitting expertise, all can benefit from learning some basic design elements. Are you tired of embarking on the journey of knitting a sweater that looks fabulous on the model, but when done has an overall look that isn’t quite right- sleeves that are the wrong length, droopy necklines or too tight armholes? In this workshop, you will learn how to plan and create sweaters that really fit and look great for years to come.
Topics to be covered:
- Understanding the nature of yarn and pattern stitches.
- Choosing the most flattering color and design for the wearer.
- Taking accurate body measurements.
- Estimating the amount of yarn needed.
- How to tell if a sweater will look good on you…BEFORE you start knitting!
- How to alter patterns so they really fit.
- How to understand the mathematics of gauge and pattern design

This fantastic and fashionable cabled hoodie, designed by Heather Lodinsky and first appearing in Knitscene Magazine has become a wildly popular online project due to its broad size range. The sizes range from bust size to 32” to 60”!! Stop in and see our version knit up in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. This pattern can be downloaded directly from www.knittingdaily.com for $5.50 or we can help you do that in the shop. Any worsted weight yarn will do and we can help you decide on the best size. This Knit Along has a rolling enrollment so join us on the following dates….

Break out those UFOs and join us for help and support! Projects often fall by the wayside for one reason or another but all is not lost! Find that sweater, scarf or socks you started long ago and finally finish that project with our encouragement! Learn those stitches you need to know to finish up and move onto bigger and better projects! Please sign up in advance.
Aran Afghan KnitAlong
Come and join us as we knit a beautiful Aran Afghan perfect for the winter months! Aran knitting originated in the Aran islands off the coast of Ireland. It is characterized by intricately patterned garments and afghans that involve lots of cables, bobbles and other designs. This afghan will be knit in squares which will then be seamed together to form a beautiful heirloom afghan. Knit all in one color, this afghan will showcase one of our new Fall yarns…it’s the perfect weight and machine washable!

Join us and knit awhile at our Wednesday morning knit in with Rebecca and Diana from 10:30AM-12:00PM. Stop by every Wednesday morning, have some coffee and knit with us.
